So annoying!

The past three months, I have kept a teeny tiny log of my miles.  I take pride, or find enjoyment, in writing down each run on my little paper calendar.  I turn it in for work because of a wellness program, which is why it's on a paper calendar and not in a book.  Sure enough, with about seven days left in the month, I lost it for January!  : ( Bummer.  I have been looking high and low for it, but it's gone, I'm afraid.

I was still able to complete one, though I think the mileage will be less than what it was on the original.  It's no big deal, really.  Next month, though, I plan to have a back-up.

This weekend was, again, a wonderful running weekend! Yesterday I ran about five and today I did seven.  Next weekend I do want the "long" run to be longer, like twelve or so.  Gotta get ready for the half!! It's less than a month away!! Wahhooo!!

Did It.

I'm now committed to running this half marathon!  The hotel is even booked!

Yay, yay, yay!!   Can't wait.

I think I'm ready for a record breaking time this year.  (Ha!)  I do feel fit enough to run it, though.  Last year I would have struggled every step of the way.  It's amazing how much can change throughout a year...

Need to Register!

Running this week is going great.  The past two days I have been able to run with my neighbor and get in about 4.5 miles before school.  Tomorrow I am going to attempt to run on the treadmill again.  Last time I only did two, tomorrow I'm going for three.  We're real close to getting the TV set up in the basement for our treadmill running, which is going to help tremendously.

Last winter was so tough, running wise.  I didn't have a running partner, so I was stuck by myself in the dark.  (Hated that....)  And, if I went into town to meet my running group, I was getting up around 4:30 each morning.  What a difference having a running partner (who lives close by) makes!  It's so motivating to have someone to run with throughout the week.

I look forward to seeing what the rest of the week holds for running.  I know I need to get a long one in on Saturday to get ready for this race.  Can't wait...

TAG!

Here's the post copied by Amy:

Here are the rules: Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog. Share 5 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog. or Share the 5 top places on your “want to see or want to see again” list. or Share 5 things you never pictured being in your future when your were 25 years old.

I've decided to list the five races I'd like to run in the near future! It kind of goes with the top 5 places theme, I guess...

1. Rock N Roll Half Marathon, Va Beach. (Not real exciting, I know...but I haven't done it yet and I want to!)

2. The Disney Marathon ( Sorta like torture: Run a marathon, chase a two year old around an amusement park. Who wouldn't want to do this?)

3. The San Antonio Marathon. (Can we say eat in San Antone even more than what I normally do when we visit????? LOTS AND LOTS OF TEX-MEX, after the race...of course!)

4. Capon Valley 50K, maybe this MAY???? (This race is about 30 miles, and is supposedly easier than a marathon, but there's the risk of getting lost. Awesome? 30 miles racing/lost in the woods! Any takers???)

5. The Honolulu Marathon. (For obvious reasons.)

6. One more, while I'm dreaming: A 50 Miler, The JFK!! (it's a dream, don't freak out! )

Totally Nuts.

NEEDED TO EDIT THIS POST...I CAN TELL I WROTE THIS IN ALL OF FIVE MINUTES LAST NIGHT!

Here's how crazy I am: I ran outside today at 6:00 am. If you live near me, you would know that it is insanely COLD and windy outside today. The high was like 20 degrees or something, so I would guess that this morning's run was about 5 degrees with the wind chill. In my defense, I really had no idea how cold it was because I hopped in the car and drove to meet a running friend. The car was parked in the garage, so I a bit alarmed when I stepped out of the car to begin the run. When we started, my face felt like it was burning from the wind, even my legs were burning.

We did manage to run about 4.5 or so, which was great. Initially, I was only up for the 2.5 mile loop. But that's the way running works with me, once I can get myself out the door and on the road, I'm good to go. And, truthfully-whining aside-, it was a wonderful run. I was able to spend some time with one of my very favorite people. She is an inspiration to me, for so many reasons, but mainly because she is one of the kindest, sweetest individuals I know. So, to be able to spend some quality time with S., was worth the burning face and the chill in my bones that seemed to last all morning.

I keep thinking, though, isn't this why we bought the treadmill in the first place? So that I would have a WARMER option on mornings like this? Sometimes running isn't about the running, I think it's more about the quality time with my friends.

Well. I'm running a half marathon in about a month! WAAAHHH! HOOOO!! Very, very excited about this race, it's one of my favorites because I get to go back to my Alma mater. I definitely feel ready this year, yesterday I ran about ten and a half or so! (Much, much better than last year at this time.)

Catching up...

Last night I was exhausted. In my head, I told myself over and over that I didn't want to run this morning, even though two of my very favorite people were going to drive fifteen minutes to run with me. I got on the phone and sure enough gladly accepted their offer to run here in my town. I quickly headed to bed after our conversation, so I could drag myself out of bed.

We ran together this morning. (Quickly!)

As I was driving home, I know I was smiling. I was astonished that I felt **SO** good, even though I was so tired the night before. The conversation, the friendship, the increased heart rate, and the endorphins work wonders on my body in the mornings. After my morning runs, I often think about how wonderful it would be if more people got up and ran in the mornings. It's like an instant jump start for the day and puts a smile on my face all morning long.

My mileage for this week has been great, thanks to my new running friends and the girls who came out this morning. Today we did about 4.5 miles. Tomorrow, I'm hoping for five. We'll see...

The Thing:

The thing about treadmills? They make you feel guilty.

Yesterday I found myself cleaning, cleaning, lounging, lounging, cleaning, cleaning....And the whole time thinking, "when am I gonna run???" When Michael naps? No. Because I was : cleaning. Maybe when Michael is in bed? No. Because I was: lounging!

I ran outside today, in the terrible wind, with my new friend. But tomorrow morning, I'm going to give the treadmill a run for it's money. We'll see how long I last....I'd like to run at least three.
